Open Early Childhood Education

Open early childhood education is aimed at families with children living in Janakkala. Participation in family and child groups is free of charge and does not affect home care support. Open early childhood education follows school holiday schedules. Up-to-date information about activities, meeting places, and possible changes can be found on the Facebook page Pikkuilvekset matkalla maailmaan and on Instagram @janakkala.avoinvaka.

Family groups and the baby bubble are meeting places for families with children that can be attended according to one’s own schedule. The groups encourage children and guardians to participate in activities together. Children are always under the responsibility of their own guardian. Participation in family and baby groups does not require prior registration.

The open early childhood education child groups are aimed at children aged 2 to 5 years. The child group provides a safe environment to practice interacting with other children. The activities in child groups are diverse and in accordance with the early childhood education plan. Play is at the center of the activities. Participation requires filling out an application. The application is primarily filled out through electronic services, eDaisy. Please indicate in the application details whether you are applying for a place in the Tervakoski or Turenki child group.

Our goal in open early childhood education is to strengthen the well-being and resources of families while listening to their individual needs. The starting point is to support interaction between children and guardians as well as to provide social contacts. Guardians receive companionship and peer support from others in similar life situations. Additionally, we, as professionals in education, support parenting concerning issues related to the child’s growth and development. For children, we provide the opportunity to create friendships and play companionship, as well as guided shared activities.

Open early childhood education is part of the early childhood education services of the municipality of Janakkala. Our activities in open early childhood education are planned and guided by the National Core Curriculum for Early Childhood Education and Care (2022) and Janakkala municipality’s Early Childhood Education Plan (2024). Open early childhood education is managed by an early childhood education teacher in collaboration with an early childhood education childcare worker. Open early childhood education is organized in Turenki and Tervakoski. We cherish nature and movement, and we also implement activities outdoors. We plan and develop activities to meet the needs of families by listening to the wishes of children and guardians. In open early childhood education, activities are also conducted in cooperation with various partners.
