The purpose of the parents’ network is to bring together parents, schools, daycares and parent associations, to listen to families when planning activities concerning them and in decision-making. The network also provides peer support for parenting and keeps families informed about current municipal matters. Parents from across the municipality are welcome to join the network as widely as possible. The only common denominator required is that the family has at least one child under 18, whether they are in home care, daycare, comprehensive education, or in upper secondary school.

The network is not a bureaucratic body, but a very informal network where you can bring up matters on your mind and discuss current issues concerning children and young people. Visitors may also be invited to meetings.

– The network is a place where, for example, municipal officials from the education department can come to present current reforms or where together we can consider, for example, the challenges of night moped riding, says wellbeing director Hanna Paikkala.

– In the Child Friendly Municipality work it is important that the work is done together with children, young people, and families.

Meetings

About fifteen parents attended the parents’ network’s first meeting; their children range from early childhood education up to upper secondary education.

On the municipal side, updates and current matters were reported regarding early childhood education, comprehensive education and youth work.

The event discussed parenting and what is expected from the network; peer support, information and opportunities to participate and influence emerged as the main topics.

At the second meeting, the aim is to plan the schedules for 2026 and continue the network’s work. All parents are welcome!

The registration link will be published later.
