Content and Purpose

This is the document description regarding public access to documents as per Section 28 of the Act on Information Management in Public Administration (906/2019), aimed at facilitating requests for information from the municipality of Janakkala.

The description includes information about case registers, data resources, information systems, data collections, and data groups. 

Everyone has the right to obtain information from a public authority’s document, which is public (621/1999). Most documents of Janakkala municipality are public. However, documents may also contain confidential information. There is always a basis for confidentiality from public law or other legislation. According to Section 25 of the Information Management Act, municipalities must maintain a case register for matters under consideration by and previously handled by the authority, which records information about the matter, processing, and documents.

Grounds for Requests 

Documents or other information from the municipality can be requested from the case register or information system using the following grounds: 

  • name of the document or matter 
  • diary number (case number) 
  • property identifier 
  • person’s name (e.g., client or decision-maker) 
  • personal identification number 
  • stages of the matter’s processing and decisions made therein 
  • matters recorded in the task-related process
  • initiator of the matter 
  • decision-maker 
  • preparer 
  • date
