The regional planning is the responsibility of the regional council, in Kanta-Häme, it is the Hämeen council.

The Kanta-Häme regional plan 2040 covers the entire area of the region. The regional plan 2040 was announced to come into effect on 12.9.2019 according to section 201 of the Land Use and Building Act before it received legal force. The regional plan received legal force on 21.10.2021.
