Janakkala's two population centres, Turenki and Tervakoski, offer an excellent range of services. Daycare facilities, primary, secondary and upper secondary schools as well as libraries offer their services in these areas. A smaller school is located in eight villages.

Turenki and Tervakoski have versatile health services; both urban areas have their own health centre, maternity clinic, on-call duty medical service, dental care and laboratory. Janakkala offers flexible service entities for the elderly. Basic values such as customer service, punctuanity, flexibility and professional axpertise are being emphasised.

At the moment, the main building area with plenty of plot alternatives are in Harviala which is situated between Turenki and Hämeenlinna. The area is located by the Hiidenjoki River, the old cultural landscape of the Harviala manor. Harviala is a peaceful spot beautifully located by the river, but still only ten minutes away by car from the services. There is a school and new day-care centre for families with children. The extensive green areas make Harviala a comfortable living environment. Hiidenjoki is a significant part of a marked boating route which leads all the way to Tampere. The building plots sizes start from 1,200 m², with a price per square metre starting from 10 €. The plots can either be bought or leased.

The Eväsoja area in Tervakoski and the new plots in Tammiranta are centrally located close to the Tervakoski services. The plot sizes vary between 1,200 to 2,400 m² and their price per square metre is 15 €.

Additionally, in Emilianpolku (located in Leppäkoski), the plots can be reserved by the forest. Leppäkoski is a village of 500 inhabitants where the Puujoki, Haukankallio, Rahitunlampi beaches and a 3 km exercise path offer good possibilities for outdoor activities. The distance to Turenki and the Tervakoski services is around 10 km and 6 km to the Tervakoski motorway intersection.
